Support Seniors is a technical monitoring system designed to support awareness in living environments where older adults reside.

It is not a medical device, a diagnostic tool, or a substitute for personal care or emergency services.

The system consists of two components:

• a Raspberry Pi–based monitoring service
• a web-based admin and alert portal

Network cameras provide live video streams to the monitoring service, which processes the data locally and generates structured event records. The purpose of the system is to observe patterns and changes, not to record or evaluate individuals.

Recorded data

The system generates and stores structured event information, such as:

• presence or absence of movement
• significant changes in movement dynamics
• periods of inactivity
• camera connectivity and technical status
• time-based activity patterns

Only event metadata and numeric indicators are stored.
Raw video streams are not archived by default.

Admin portal

The web-based admin portal allows authorised access to:

• event timelines and summaries
• historical activity data
• system configuration and thresholds
• alert behaviour settings

The portal is designed to run on standard PHP/MySQL hosting environments.

Alerts

Alerts can be generated when predefined technical or behavioural conditions are met.
Alerting is rule-based and configurable. The system does not autonomously initiate emergency actions.

Optional AI insights

AI-generated insights can be enabled or disabled.
When enabled, AI processes existing event data to generate descriptive summaries intended to support interpretation.
AI output is informational only and does not provide medical or clinical conclusions.

It does not guarantee incident detection or prevention and must not be relied upon for medical or emergency decision-making.
